Basic Kerala Ayurvedic Principles

According to Ayurvedic doctrine, every life and non life being in earth is a combination of five fundamental elements, collectively known as Pancha Maha Bhoothas. The human system or the human being is also constituted of these five everlasting elements in respective compositions. Hence, it can be said that every cubicle of the system possesses all the properties of living. The disagreement between the human system and the foreign reality is the manifestation of Chaitanya or 'awareness' or 'living trigger' or 'feeling' or 'psyche. The following are the five fundamental everlasting elements 1. Earth 2. Water 3. Fire 4. Air 5. Ether The Panchamahabhootha (the Five elements) unmistakable themselves in the human system as three fundamental principles known as Tridosha. The language 'Dosha' literally means 'that which maintains and controls the system. These are Vatha, Pitha and Kapha. The Pancha Maha Bhootas and Tridoshas are not available to the nude heart. But they should be conceived as extensive terms in which all the physiological structures and physical functions of the system are included. The Air and Ether elements mix to organize the Vatha rule. The flame factor constitutes the Pitha rule. Earth and Water elements mix to organize Kapha. These three fundamental principles regulate all natural, physical and physio-pathological functions of the system, psyche and awareness. They behave as fundamental constituents and overprotective barriers for the system in its natural physical conditions.
